AgroSpheres, a leader in developing the next generation of environmentally friendly crop protection products, announced that David Nothmann, recently appointed Chief Revenue Officer at Terramera and former Vice President of Marketing at agricultural input provider, Valent LLC, has joined AgroSpheres’ advisory board. Nothmann is a visionary strategist with more than 20 years of executive-level B2B and B2C experience in agriculture and food production industries.
Nothmann’s contributions and role as an advisor will include insight into marketplace dynamics and go-to-market approaches including partnership and licensing options. AgroSpheres will draw on Nothmann’s strong background in portfolio and product management to design a rigorous stage-gate process which will improve prioritizing opportunities. His addition to the advisory board complements an already strong group of recognized leaders with commercial horsepower.
Payam Pourtaheri, AgroSpheres’ CEO, stated, “We are excited to have David join the AgroSpheres team. We have had the pleasure of working with David for the past few months on our market entry strategy. We’re looking forward to continuing to benefit from David’s advice to maximize our revenue outlets and streamline our path to market. His proven track record, industry knowledge and leadership skills will prove invaluable as we grow and quickly advance our products to commercialization.”
“The AgroSpheres team is nimble and committed to bringing value to the marketplace via its diverse technology portfolio,” said Nothmann. “They are poised to quickly enter specialty markets with products that provide competitive control and are better for the environment. AgroSpheres has generated significant interest from traditional crop protection providers as a means of prolonging the control of their products in the field and providing biodegradable alternatives to formulation components such as a replacement for microplastics. I am most excited about their progress developing biopesticides that show great efficacy in recent greenhouse and field trials.”
Nothmann started his career at Monsanto in corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, licensing and product management roles. Following two years at ArborGen as Vice President of Business and Product Development, he served as Vice-President of Battelle Memorial Institute’s Agribusiness group where he doubled revenue in three years, leading a highly technical team that conducted formulation work and regulatory studies for clients working towards product commercialization. At Valent, he oversaw the launch of more than 20 branded and private label products in three years and tripled revenue growth for the seed protection and soil enhancement business, prior to his recent appointment as Chief Revenue Office at Terramera, where he leads all market-facing revenue activities.
Nothmann holds an MBA and European Management Certificate from New York University and a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University. He served on the Board of Directors of Agriculture Future of America and was a founding member and former President of the Fulbright Academy of Science & Technology. A Fulbright Scholar, David has studied, worked and lived in many European and South American countries, as well as Canada, Mexico and Japan.
