The agricell

The AgriCell is a platform technology that enhances synthetics and enables biologicals. The AgriCell encapsulates, delivers, sustainably-releases the Active Ingredient and then biodegrades in the environment. 



AgriCell-synthetics can be stored as a liquid concentrate or dry powder. The technology can be easily water dispersed, with an engineered release profile that is activated upon introduction to the environment.  High loading and versatile release distinguish the biodegradable AgriCell technology from market standard micro-plastic and EC formulations. 


The AgriCell technology offers a single step production and encapsulation system for biologicals. AgriCell-RNAi studies have demonstrated low cost production and high efficacy performance of RNAi pesticides in field conditions. AgriCell Biologicals are compatible with and complementary to market synthetics, to be deployed in an IPM program.

Field Stability

The AgriCell shields actives from harsh field conditions and enhances their stability in the field. Current delivery technologies do not provide adequate protection for actives, so they degrade quickly and lose their potency. The AgriCell protects actives from heat, UV light, enzymes, and microbes

Controlled release

AgriCells can be tuned to provide the optimal release timing for different applications.  Faster release of actives may be desired for instant effect against pests; slower release of actives may be desired to provide sustained control of pests over a course of weeks.

Environmentally friendly

AgriCells are manufactured in a natural fermentation process.  The fermentation process leaves an organic waste stream. AgriCells are non-toxic and biodegrade when they reach the soil. 

The biggest environmental advantage of AgriCells is their functionality:

  • For synthetic chemicals, AgriCells lower dosage rates. By slowing down the degradation of actives and enabling their controlled release, AgriCells enable much lower dosage rates for chemical actives. 
  • For biologicals, AgriCells can stabilize biologicals in the field, enhance their efficacy, and lower their cost of production. Solving delivery problems for biologicals can make them commercially viable and provide sustainable alternatives to traditional chemical pesticides.
